This is a picture of our practice “half-rack”. It’s pretty much exactly the same but with braces on the back.

The half rack does look good, but I am concerned about the dynamics of the spiders with only half of the mass.

The motion might be very different from the actual rack.

How does it move in comparison to full racks (maybe if you went to the kick-off in Manchester you could give some insight)?

Thanks and Good Luck!!

Now I have not seen this thing in person, so dont hold this against me, but i was at manchester for kickoff:

Looking at this I don’t really see anyway this could act differently than a FULL rack, except if a robot was say pushing on the leg directly opposite of you. The leg motion side to side is fairly contained within each individual leg because of the single pivot point. I’d say a half rack will do just fine.

I would have expected more people’s heads to have asploded over the fact that the “stingers” aren’t regulation length, AND they’re curved forward.

I’m disappointed :frowning:

this is also the same route we went. We built a half rack because that is all we could do given our space limitations.

It seems to be working ok, we haven’t used a robot on it yet, but it looks like it is gonna hold up and I don’t see how it would act different from the full thing, because the legs do not balence in the middle, they are supported from the middle and on the main shaft.

It’s fairly stable. The ceiling needs some work though…

It’s built FIRST tough!
