pic: 1825s Chassis as of friday...

this is our Chassis when i left on friday night… tell me what you all think

really nice rack and pinion set up there.

Great use of protective bubble wrap!

thanks i didn’t do a lot of work on it… but i am helping where i can…

Excellent battery placement for weight distribution. The common wrong assumption is to put it over the rear inside traction wheel.

yeah they went back and forth on where to put it… and they went with putting it there…

I think it looks great!

Do you have any ball manipulation plans that you can tell us about?

they were working on some sort of ball manipulation thing when i had to leave on Saturday(i had to go run sound for a concert) so they have something going… don’t know what tho… sry

I love the modified Ackerman Steering, do I see a slight angle coming off the pinion? Looks like you can turn to the left better than you can turn to the right, right? If you were to drive your steering off the tierod and you have the clearance, you could probably turn equally good in both directions. I am not sure you would need to, but it might be nice to have. We planned on writting software to speed up the outside rear wheel depending on how much the front wheels turned. So far that does not appear to be necessary. Have you programed anything to compensate for the rear wheels when turning?

EDIT: What kind of turning radius do you get? I am guessing that moving the wheels in a little helps you.

Any binding in the wheels? and what are the widths of your front wheels? and what is your radius?:yikes:

i think that we can turn better to the left but don’t know…(its not programed yet) i think they will put something like that in the program like that… but i don’t know… don’t know the turning radius but i know it is tight…

no binding in the wheels that i know of… all of the the wheels are 2 IN wide… and don’t know the radius… sry
