These are my 4 "CLAWS". Sadly I will be becoming a Tigertron alumni on June 4.

How many alumni will you be? (Alumni is the plural of alumnus, FYI.)

Some people may think my writing stilted — but it’s awfully close to the way I speak. (I DO use the subjunctive mood, and I DO use who and whom, and I and me correctly.) One of my goals is to raise awareness of proper grammar, so that it becomes more commonplace, and so that it doesn’t sound so strange to the ear when heard.

Whatever you want to call it I guess.

I will become an alumni with the 9 other graduates this year

Good luck in spreading your English wisdom as I am not a fan of English :ahh:

Not one of my best subjects in highschool to say the least. I wonder if robotics was a reason for that?

That’s a neat idea lining them all up for a photo. Sadly our team is unable to do that due to the fact that storage limitations have caused us to dismantle/destroy our old robots. Although we could Photoshop photos of all our robots into one but it wouldn’t be the same as having all of them in a true line up.

That’s a da-mn shame that you had to do that, all of your hard work just gone.

Word is that 4 of the 9 are lucky enough to join the Penn State family this fall!

… erm, I guess you could say that is lucky! lol

Congrats! on your graduation!

Heh, either way… you will ALWAYS have the memory of “Rizzo” from IRI last year… such a faithful stuffed animal from a claw machine

i think its amazing that your old robots are still intact

Our robots are almost always in pieces within a year of being built. We either scavenge them for spare parts, or just dont have the space to keep them in.

I hear you Brad I can’t believe we are all ready seniors it was like yesterday when we first went to our first kick off at the high school man do i feel old now.

Man, 4 years ago I went to my first natts with the machine on the far left, and was totally dumb founded, I was the typical rookie walking around bugging people about their machines and not really knowing what to ask apart from what I was told too. I am the typical Sr. now though too (Sr.itus)
Heh. IT has been an amazing 4 years and even though im going to stay with in F.I.R.S.T., I will never forget those 4 machines and all the pains and moments of pride that came with them. Even more than the machines I will remember my team mates and my mentors, who have made my F.I.R.S.T., experience extremely rewarding. I’m saying this as Alumni, not as a member of 222, the Tigertrons are really working to the ideals of F.I.R.S.T, and they ARE changing the world. At least they did for me.

Peace,
Dave

WE also had to take our robot apart for the components

What do you guys usually do with your old robots??? We take out motors but I think this year we are replacing them and having some fun with them… Maybe like a TJ^2 bash… haha should be interesting…

we have a robot “grave yard” ontop of some platforms where we have pvc, and other materials lying around… even aquatread is still intact up there =D

Someone from 88, and someone from 121 – talking about Aquatread…

Who else sees the irony?

JVN

hahaha yes can you believe it??? aquatread was alittle before my time… wait i was pretty much involved with the team since 1997 when my older brother did it… i was young and didnt know what was going on… Heck I’m older now and still have no clue to what is going on… hahahaha

I think I’ll be a little more clear. We do remove and save all the motors, chain, sprockets, electrical and pneumatic components as spares and/or prototype use. This is what I refered to as the dismantle part. Several of our robots had TIG welded aluminum frames, arms, ect. and were cut up (the destroy part) and taken to a scrap dealer for the money. Needless to say cutting your robots up and selling them for scrap is one “fundraiser” I don’t personally look forward to or endorse!
