This was the front rail of our AM14U from the 2014 DC Regional. To be clear, it was not that shape when we began the competition.
I realize this isn’t the most drastic frame damage anyone suffered last year, but I thought it was pretty impressive that it deformed this much through a pool-noodle-and-plywood bumper.
I’ll grab some pictures tomorrow of our AM14U front/back rails we used on our plate drive. Since we can use either side of our robot for pickup/shooting our driver used both a lot and the are both bent in a lot. We considered swapping them during our DCMP but knew it wasn’t worth the time as the replacements would be bent in a few matches and we had no weight to reinforce them.
during the season, I believe it was the DC regional, we (1885) were hit hard and our bumper wasn’t aligned propperly so the dented our 4x2 box severally…it didn’t hurt us at all.I think it would be less likely with a 2x1 or so, but it was still interesting.
