Ooooh, Sketchup eh? I’ve heard great things from artsy-er types, how do you like it for engineering brainstorming?
nice rendering
looks like a solid design
only suggestions I would make is to expand its size out to the max allowed by the rules to get the best possible stability for your bot
and to turn the design 90° so the bot is 3’ 2"wide. That will give you the best steering with the wheel configuration you have (unless your front wheels are going to steer like a car)
my guess is that they have mechanisms for picking up/ shooting balls outside of their frame, but still in the size requirements. looks good guys. Where did you get the extruded fiberglass?
(low wheelbase to track ratio)+ (two wheel drive with high traction wheel sets)+(2 Hp worth of motors)= highly maneuverable, powerful, fast robot.
My guess: Mostly defensive robot?
If not, as mentioned previously, ball handler and shooter need to be mostly outboard mounted. I’m looking forward to see what you really come up with. Your pedigree says it should be AWESOME!!!
good choice with the andymark transmissions. a question regarding those: are you using the one small and one large CIM motor per transmission? cause in the kit there are only two of each kind. it is hard to tell from the picture. good design!
Looks like two small ones. You can get two more small CIMs if you want them; FIRST just didn’t send them with the kit this year.
nice. i like duallys. i wonder if different tread material is gonna be used for front/back?
