pic: Breakaway Field Practice setup

A daring shot to try…but we’re aiming for over both bumps and into the goal.

The target is going to be on clear plexiglass not white paper.

hmm… I’ll have to let the field team know about that. Thank you! I can see how this might effect the accuracy of the vision system.

Ya our programers were worried about the affect of clear plexiglass, i dont know what dean was thinking.

lucky that you can do this outside. We do not have that ability here in indiana.

The vision system will be looking for the contrasting black and white target. I do not believe the clear plexiglass will be a factor for the system but rather the ability to find the target’s contrasting colors.

What if someone with a black/white shirt is standing behind the target? Glare from stadium lights? All variables should be tested to ensure accuracy, especially if the team were to code their own vision tracking program. (don’t want any instances where robots are shooting into the stands like in 2006 :stuck_out_tongue: (Green light up bill boards do not mix with green light up target tracking robots) )

All points well taken in regards to vision software and tracking. I think the size of the target is much larger than someone wearing a black and white t-shirt.

The point I was referencing was in the post above mentioning their background was on a white background. I was not downplaying the importance of testing and variables all playing a factor in the vision system. The team drawings have teams creating a vision target out of plywood.

same here in snowey new england

Our programers were more woried with a bright flash from a camera, but you could test the effects with out changing the target so i encourage all of you to test and see what happens.

The camera takes a bit of time to find the target anyways, I doubt a flash from a camera will affect it.

Looks like someone went to BK Lounge…
