Pretty self explanitory…

Details coming soon.

You should run this Cannonball style

Sounds interesting, too bad I don’t have a car anymore…

Oooo… I like this idea. CT is really pretty during the fall, the foliage will be worth it (although you should probably be keeping your eyes on the road  )

Is this going to be Time Speed Distance Rally? Or a 5 card stud rally? Or another creative type?

It’s a scavenger hunt for information. You need to look out for certain landmarks and answer questions about them. The car with the most correct answers wins.

Another twist is each team is running their own game. The route will be the same for all three teams, but each team will be starting at their own home base and awarding their own prizes.

It should be cool to see how this overlapping works out.

ya i must say the trip is awsome because i was one of the people that drove the route to plan it…its a fun time especially with elgin and his GPS saying we were going off into a nearby lake and such…lol technology and nature don’t mix too well :yikes:  i hope alot of other robot teams in the area come and help us out!! woohoo

The round trip between all three schools should take about 2 hours.

This could be a first in FIRST! (pun intentional  ) Three separate teams getting together to do fundraisers. As John mentioned each team is running thier own game and keeps the profits for the vehicles that start at thier location. This is also a great way to bring attention to the participating teams.
Now hopefully it won’t rain this Sunday when I’m entering my car in one of the largest shows in the Northeast, Southbury Training School. If it rains it means I won’t be passing out fliers advertising this scavenger hunt.

Somehow I am not surprised that Elgin, and only Elgin, is capable of “breaking” the planned route! :stuck_out_tongue:

This reminds me of a question I had.
Our teams may have already discussed this, but what are some of the ways we are planning on marketing the event? Perhaps we could share our ideas on this matter. One thought I had was to put up signs at major road intersections, such route 4/route 7 and route 41/route 112. What do you think?

The more advertising the better! Putting signs up at intersections works, especially the main roads you mentioned. We’re also putting up fliers in local stores with thier permission, passing fliers out at car shows, listing the event in the back of the Special Interest Bargain News-Calander of Events, and contacting radio stations.

Remember, all makes, models, years of vehicles welcome.
^
This should be on the fliers also because there just aren’t enough vehicles like mine to go around. :stuck_out_tongue:

That sounds so cool. Wish we could participate.

Hence this information gathering thread I started a while ago. I guess this is a first of this type of fundraiser so far in FIRST.

Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

woohooo we get to be the first team to ever do somethinglike this…its so exciting! lol it may even win us some points for an award or something? :yikes:

Do we know when this will take place yet? (We will want to add it to our RAGE calendar)…

October 17th. We want to do it when the leaves are changing, which makes the ride that much more scenic.
If there’s any changes to the schedule I’ll let you know.

october 17th 10am - 1pm you will be returning at the place of location between 12pm and 3 pm if that makes sense?..people will be leaving in 5 minute intervals just to split up traffic a bit and the ride is about 2 hours soo

The only major difference between this and a “normal” collaborative fundraiser is that where you start on the road rally is who you pay your participation fee to.
(To be determined - No more than 20 bucks a carload but probably less.)

That way we 3 teams are not fighting over who’s money is who’s at the end of the rally.
That could get ugly (I’m sure it wouldn’t…) and this way we also have 3 places to choose from to start your adventure.

More details to follow. I want to get a copy of the flyer and upload ALL the info at once. But what was discussed so far in this thread is the basics.

That’s our Teambuilding Weekend. Hmm. Let’s see, can we make that a teambuilding exercise??? :yikes:

Am I disqualified because I come from the area?

I may just have to take a roadtrip

Each group of people in a single car is working together as a team, so to me it clearly looks like a great teambuilding exercise!

Too bad I am going home from school that weekend, otherwise I might have joined you. Oh well, great idea…sounds like a lot of fun.
