This is a custom transmission I have been working on using 2 CIMs into one Dewalt. It has a 2 to 1 reduction through spur gears that goes into the dewalt and the Dewalt outputs directly to the center wheel in our 6wd drivetrain.

looks really familiar…http://picasaweb.google.com/skowski/FIRSTChamps08/photo#5191373358761598834

good luck

It should look very familiar. I spent a lot of time at champs looking at their transmission up close. I hope I can find a way to avoid a lot of the problems they were having with them though or else I will be going with a dog shifting 2 speed instead.

I’m trying to get a short whitepaper put together for you guys on our transmission and the development we did throughout the 2008 season.

A quick note…our final version that was used in Atlanta effectively solved the major issues with the design. I hate that we were the guinea pig for Dewalt destruction, but I’d prefer to help the community learn.

In short, the direct drive application is very taxing on the transmission. We had to make too many modifications to the transmission to make it useful. :frowning:

Keep your eyes peeled for the paper or PM me with specific questions.

Thank you. So I’m assuming that you are suggesting we stick to the spur gear dog-shifting transmission if at all possible?

see here…

dude, sweet job. very well designed. cant think of much beyond what you have here. my team is thinking of doing something similar to this as well!
