pic: Did someone say 'uneven terrain' ?

This off season our team decided to experiment and play with what a robot would look like that could navigate uneven terrain. Here’s one of our proof of concepts based on a shrimp rover. Looks like we may get to play more with this concept.

That’s what I envision the ideal First robotic playing Field to be. (never happen). Of course if this does happen, I would push my team to go to a full octo-pod design. Octo-pod gates would give Labview and the new controller a work out.

(obligatory ‘how much does it weigh’ post follows)

How much does it weigh?

That’s a pretty sweet robot

Hi Annette, This was strickly a ‘proof of concept’ model that allowed us to play with the geometry of the front articulated fork and the side boggies. We simply used 2x4s to hold everything in place. In addition it’s only 2/3 scale. An actual working chassis would probably be mostly fabricated from one inch square 1/16 wall steel tubing and weigh about 40 lbs sans electronics and battery.

Oh! That makes sense
