The Florida FIRST Alumni teamed up with NASA Education to give 45 FIRST Alumni an exclusive VIP Kennedy Space Center Tour. Bob Cabana, Director of the Kennedy Space Center and former Space Shuttle commander, greeted the FIRST Alumni off the VIP tour bus at the Neil Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building. After Mr. Cabana’s welcoming words, Orlando Regional sponsors a i Solutions, Craig Technologies, Jacobs Engineering Lockheed Martin, NASA GSDO, and NASA LSP engaged the alumni guests through a “Speed Networking” event where the companies had the opportunity to briefly pitch what they do at KSC, and how to apply to careers and internships. The 45 guests represented many universities including MIT, Georgia Tech, Ollin College of Engineering, Florida Institute of Technology, Embry Riddle Aeronautics University, UCF, UF, FSU, USF, Florida Polytechnic, FAU, FIU, Miami, and multiple state colleges. Following the networking event, guests were given a tour of the Lockheed Martin Industrial Operating Zone, the Launch Abort System Facility, the NASA Vehicle Assembly Building, and had the amazing opportunity to see the Orion EFT-1 Spacecraft up close. Following the tour, Delaware North invited the alumni to the KSC Visitor Complex to visit the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit.
I highly encourage all FIRST Alumni to join the Official FIRST Alumni Network on LinkedIn.
