pic: FRC228 Hits Hard

After our final match at Battlecry we pulled off our bumper to expose this major bend in our frame from colliding with another robot. Remember kids, don’t use split bumpers!

But only a flesh wound…just kidding. Was this on the pyramid or by another robot?

I believe that answers your question…

That looks like a nasty hit. Your frame looks bolted together though, how easy is it to replace that front piece?

Maybe, maybe not… Perhaps another robot rammed them into the pyramid…

It says it right under the picture. He was quoting the OP.

The shape of the bend shows that maybe another robot rammed them into the pyramid.

That robot in the back could probably have done it, just by ramming. All you need is for the impact point to be on the low side of the frame rather than the high side.

And remember, the picture description says it was another robot. If that’s how 228 looked, I’m not sure I want to see how the other robot came out…

We had a smiliar problem with our robot, during the Dallas Regional, we crashed against the pyramid base several times, when the regional was over we removed the bumpers and found some serious damage to de back of the frame.

For the Championship we made a replacement part and changed it, we had a hard time reparing the damage because all the frame was bent and aligning the holes wasnt easy.

Looks like we weren’t the only one on our alliance that got mangled, then! we got back to our shop the next week with our intake and front frisbee managment system shot to hell. The front roller was tweaked and loose, the bar used to stabilize the roller was bent, the mounts for the roller were bent and loose, and our ramp was bent hilariously out of whack and the 1/2" steel bar it runs had an s-bend in it! One helluva match, though- it takes some serious effort to blow up on the part of our alliance to blow up our intake and your frame in one match!

After seeing this picture I’m surprised that the alliance that we played against (1058 and 228 were alliance partners) moved on to the finals with no robot injuries. It had to either be 121, 126, or 1519, but I distinctly remember not seeing any problems with those robots.
