Today we had an open house for sponsors, and one of the local FLL teams showed up. We were giving them the full tour of the robot, and decided to let them help test the latest code. They were actually pretty good and driving the bot, and had a great time.
I had my finger itching on the disable switch the whole time, but thankfully we never had to use it. I’m surprised how well the kids handled the robot, and we made sure that they stayed completely safe during their tour of the shop. I loved the enthusiasm!
Thank you God for that new feature.
That’s so cute! It looks like they’re really having a great time.
Having an Open House is such a great idea.
It can really open doors for more advertising and sponsorship and even increases in the amount of current sponsorships.
This has been the single most biggest impact that our team has experienced since our inception.
Ours is on Valentines Day as we aren’t as quick as you guys in having a completed full-scale robot done already.
We will also be lucky to have our Governor (speaker at the 2008 kickoff-NH) attend our event.
I love events & pictures like this one. It really is what FIRST is all about. The expressions on the young operators are great. It looks like they really got into things & are well equipped with safety glasses & some official looking name tags. This must have made their day & I bet you inspired some future team members.
The one kid, that has two joysticks, his face is price less. lol That’s awesome that you let them drive the robot. I’m sure they had a great time with that.
