Any details? Is this something you recently did, or was it during the build season?

Us, 87 Red Devils, and 2729 Storm goes to the facility in Moorestown, NJ to show our ideas to the ATLP division that sponsors us. Along with that, we explain our strategies, design processes with all sub-systems, and show off any prototyping or final product that we have. It was really a cool experience because it allowed me to get a view of a typical Design Review that Lockheed might do during their own projects.

About how long does it take to get through a single team’s full review? We’re wanting to do something similar and just need some guidance on how long a subteam’s presentation should be, and how long to allocate for review comments. I was thinking 3 hours total, is that about right?

Don,

The presentations in all took about 2 1/2 hours at maximum. I believe that our final review was about 75 slides and took from 30-45 minutes for our team. If you would like I can upload the presentation as a paper to give you an idea of how it looked.

I was curious because we do a similar review with engineers from our major sponsors. I know there are a few teams that do this and it is always good to understand what others do.

Ours is about 2 - 2-1/2 hours long and we have the review around week 4 of the build season.

Thanks for posting this Rob.

This really is a great experience for our students as they get to present their design process and other team projects to key stakeholders at Lockheed Martin and our school district. The CDR is usually run at the end of week 4. The students work with their mentors to make up the slideshow and practice their 30-40 minute presentation. After the 30-40 minute presentation, the students who presented all come onto the stage to answer questions from the VIP panel and audience.
