FRC 839 Rosie Robotics founder and team leader John Burns is retiring after 41 years of service to the Agawam, MA school district. The technology wing at Agawam High School was named the “John T. Burns Technology Wing” at a dedication ceremony on June 7, 2007. Mr. Burns received several tributes, including a key to the city from the mayor and the President’s Volunteer Service Award from FIRST Senior Mentor Steve Cremer. The audience included relatives, friends, colleagues, Rosie alum and team members and area FIRST mentors. Congratulations John! http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=57422
Many of you outside of MA/CT/NH may not know John, he is one of those guys that stays out of the spotlight to put others in it, mainly his students. He is well known among the MA Dept of Ed for his teaching style and contributions to writing the state standards for Tech Ed. He may be retiring, but he is not leaving FIRST. He has done a lot of programs with his students in years past, but FIRST is by far his favorite. Rosie is not letting him go away so easily…
Congratulations John. I’ve always admired what you are doing up there in Agawam. Its great having a neighbor like you.
Well Done John!
You are an inspiration to us all.
Continued best wishes - Vince
