At a community cardboard boat race the Hotbotz built a cardboard boat and “attempted” to sail it. Long story short it lasted 12 seconds.
You guys should call up 27 RUSH! They run an annual regatta in their community and I’m sure they’ll probably help you make a perfect boat next time! http://www.teamrush27.net/sites/default/files/pdfs/Documents/2013_Regatta-HLP_HalfPageEach.pdf
I must say, I’ve had a good share of my own cardboard boats sinking after the first few minutes. From doing the Regatta (RUSH’s cardboard boat race) three times now, I have a few good tricks on how to make a cardboard boat feel like an actual boat. If you want to talk through any ideas, DM me!
By the way, that’s a very innovative design for any cardboard boat I’ve seen. Maybe I’ll have to try something similar this year.
Like stated above by Camron, cardboard boats are a TON of fun to make. After you have done it a few years and learning what works and what doesn’t, try going bigger and holding more people!
