I’m worried about your cantilevered BB shafts
Yeah same here, figured that out the hard way.
I’m also curious if you have any issues with the wheels offset like that?
I really hope you aren’t cantilevering those banebots transmissions… especially when there’s going to be a car battery and a person sitting on that.
There’s nothing worse than a sideload on a planetary transmission output shaft.
Edit: Wow… everyone beat me to it.
Not quite everyone
Why did you end up offsetting the wheels like that? Any performance reason?
<joke>And btw, if you are going to be mounting chairs on robots they should be comfortable chairs…And maybe have a mini fridge with mountain dew on it…And it needs to climb stairs… that way us programmers could just sit and code and when you needed us you could signal the chair to bring us :D</joke>
My guess is offsets are just due to the fact that a robot can only be so wide, and that the combined lengths of two motors, BB gearboxes, and wheels exceeded that.
we had to offset because of the distance apart, we probably could have just made the chasiss larger but yea. we have had a chance to program yet, and hopefully the offset wont make too much of a difference.
do you think it would make a big difference to support the BB with a bearing on the other end?
Very. The internal bearings of the bane bots gearbox are just not built for this kind of side load.
Those banebots will self-destruct quickly if someone is sitting on the frame in addition to the weight of the car battery.
It’s unnecessary, Insane, and it looks like someone can get hurt… I LOVE IT.
Haha when you actually do get a chance to sit someone down in that chair make sure to video tape it put the results up on youtube. I’m pretty sure it will be the next big youtube video.
