pic: New Motor Controller at NI Week

The new Luminary motor controller as seen at NI week '08. It seems stable, there were a couple of demonstrations running which produced high EM spikes (motor reversals at high current), none of which seemed to upset the controller. Now, it wasn’t me that was there, it was my dad, but I’ve heard that the chop frequency is barely detectable unlike the current WAAAAAAAH of the current speed controllers.

disclaimer I’m not saying the current speed controllers aren’t good… I still really like IFI stuff and I’m sad to see FIRST pushing them out of the picture.

wow anyone has more info on these? Looks lean and mean :ahh:

Particularly like the circular arrangement of mosfets.

wow.

Does anyone know if we have the option to use CAN.

IIRC, not this year. 2010, I think.

Edit: I was asked about where I got this. After some searching, I found:

The official FAQ indicates that things are under development, but that Victors (PWM interface) and similar devices will likely be used for the short term. No CAN capability there.
