So we were testing a new way of shooting the ball. It was working great…almost too great when it smashed a ceiling tile! Time to turn down the power a little bit!
Out of curiosity, what angle were you shooting at?
Either you were really close to vertical…or you had a shallow angle and a wicked fast shooter.
As a teacher, I’m the ONLY member of the team afraid of this happening.
We were shooting at about a 71 degree angle. The ceiling is 10 feet tall. So yeah it was pretty close to straight up!
We have a hole in the ceiling of our shop as well. We just put a sign over it saying shhhhhhh…
You were not shooting “boulder” as in rock boulder, right?
Were you shooting with a bench grinder?
Our climber managed to take out 2 lightbulbs.
Hopefully you have a student that likes puzzles!
This happened during 2010 breakaway. A student put it back together in an hour and it took the other teacher who uses the room who isn’t involved with robotics about 2 years to realize it.
I agree… I was fortunate enough to capture the full events, and record how “Well” our shooter is now working… just need to dial back some speed.
(The bench grinder RPM was close to accurate however  )
