Here’s a picture of our team in the foggy smoky mountains near Franklin, NC.
It was taken during our roadtrip from Atlanta to Washington DC that we made after the competition.
I used to live and teach not too far from Franklin, NC. Amazing place but as far as I know there isn’t a FRC team in Western North Carolina. If I ever make it back there i’m going to talk to my old school about starting one up.
PS: if you ever make it up that way again stop in Sylva, NC and check out “Nick and Nate’s Pizza”. It’s the best pizza i’ve ever had!
Sure is smoky in the smokies…
The Great Smoky Mountians National Park is one of my very favorite plaeces to go for spring breaks, great time of the year to visit there… always have to take a hike to the top of clingman’s dome and up to the chimeny tops while i’m there…
ahhhh I wish I was up in the mountains right now… looks around… nope, still in the lab… :o

I know of one quite well–1225 is based out of Henderson County, where my mom’s side of the family grew up. (Two of my cousins teach in the district–one’s the football coach at Hendersonville High, while the other teaches math at East Henderson. Neither are affiliated with the team, but they know about it.)
I like the kid wearing the 234 for shirt. lol.
Wow, I lived in Sylva for 10 years, got my degree from WCU, taught at Tuscola HS in Waynesville NC, and didn’t hear about FRC until I moved to the Richmond area. It would be great if we could expand FIRST into such a historically underserved area.
