On May 28th, 2013 both Canadian World Championship teams (610 and 1241) had the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper. Also in attendance were Gary Goodyear, Minister of Industry, Science and Technology, John Carmichael, MP for the Don Valley West riding - Team 610’s home, and Mark Breadner, Executive Director of FIRST Robotics Canada.
Congratulations to Teams 610 and 1241 on being the first ever FRC teams to be recognized in person by the Canadian Prime Minister. These teams represent Canada well both on and off the field. This an absolutely immense and well deserved honour, and a big step towards the types of culture change we’re all trying to achieve via FIRST. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is a very busy man at this time of year, and the fact that he took time out of his busy schedule to invite, honour and recognize these World Championship teams shows that the message of FIRST is resonating at the highest levels of Canadian government! A big thanks to FIRST Robotics Canada for arranging for this opportunity for these two teams.
Also, congratulations to Kaley Bibic, a Canadian Dean’s List winner, who was also honoured at the ceremony.
Hey… where’s the “Like” button on this thread?
Now what I want to know… did the PM drive the robot? I want to see Obama and Harper go head to head.

Congratulations! This is well deserved.
I also offer my congratulations to 1241, and 610 for their awesome 2013 season. Lots of hard work and dedication went into this year. “Never give up” would be a fitting tag to these teams. Cant wait to see what you bring to the playing field in 2014.
