Here is our 2-speed transmission, using a pneumatic shifter.
The transmission looks great. KUDOS:D
And it works too. :Q
Looks nice. I like how you guys are putting the motor inside the plate. Few questions…
- What are the gear ratios on there?
- Are you guys using only one small CIM per side?
- Is there a way to adapt another small CIM or a big CIM into that tranny?
- How heavy is that?
- I can’t really see the dog gear… but can you shift on fly?
Good luck at the competitions and if you guys are at any event that I am attending, I will make sure to stop by and check you guys out. =)
Uh-oh exploding ifi wheels. trust me, you should definitely change those!
I’m not quite sure why you’d say that. Hundreds of teams used IFI wheels last year, and only a handful experienced problems. Even though the problems were few and far between, this off-season IFI looked at the problems and designed a new version of their wheels. The new version addressed all the complaints and issues brought up during the 2006 season. They even took the time to have these wheels beta-tested by an FRC team. Their new wheels are tested and proven. There were no “explosions” in these tests.
still, those wheels (ok the wheels last year) lost us 3 first place trophies.
Last year’s wheels got us one first place trophy!
To answer a few of your questions:
- High gear is 21.96 to 1
Low gear is 65.88 to 1 (both of these are to the wheel) - Yes, one 2.5 inch per side
- Yes, but a small redesign would be required
- A whole whooping 8.8 pounds per each side with motor and pneumatic shifter
- Most definitely
We will be competing at the Trenton and Anapolis Regionals
We have not have a problem with the wheels, and used them last year as well.
