Heres our chassis for this year… aint it pretty??
MMM shiny. I would strongly recommend you cover up as much of it as possible if you want it to stay that way through the build season
securitys tighter around that thing than at bush’s inaguaration… itll get some dings in it but itll hopefully look good for atleast one match
kinda reminds me of parts of our '03 bot, colorwise. Too bad that paint can come off so easy…
This is our first painted robot so we pulled out all the stops! Well by painted I mean not with spray paint.
powder coat, right??
I wanna know about that also. How much weight does the paint/powdercoat weigh on the frame and how much does the frame weigh?
it is powdercoat… it doesnt weigh much… we didnt weigh the chassis before/after we painted it… the overall frame weighs about 20 pounds, without the plates…

Also, i like the strategy of going right into the goals.
we had that thought too but i came up with a major problem with that. if you get on the goal and another robot comes and keeps you on the goal you are stuck for at least for 13 seconds, due to the 10 sec. pin rule then they get 3 seconds away then you are allowed to pin again for 10 seconds. other then that if you thought of it then good luck this year and i hope to see ya at a competition! good luck!
i also that you will use some sort of traction grippy stuff to adhere to your wheels. what stuff is that and how will you manage to keep it on the wheel? thats what we have a probem with right now.
torque…massive torque…
were usin some rubber tread material that has been layin round the lab for a few years that we have used before- take some screws and put it right into the wheels
ok, yea it’s alright to have it if you have massive torque. so your just screwing them on? what you using for a wheel then the 8" KOP?
if it aint broke, why fix it??
4 or 6? all wd too?
hey, i cant give you all of the secrets weve themed up this year… but the answer to your last question is none of the above…
Pfft, 3 wheel drive swivel in the front with power to the rear wheels. Why else would the triangle be in the front?
Nice design guys. Kinda reminds me of our frame . Can’t wait to see your finished bot at VCU.
It looks awesome. Are you guys using tank drive or steering system? And what is the material you guys use in chasis?
The material is Aluminum as for other info I’m not sure I am at liberty to say.
We have that exact same tap and die set! =P
