pic: Testing the arm...

Testing our arm.

 Beautiful, looks very light. How much does the whole thing weigh and have you tipped over yet.

I agree, that thing looks very stable. Good job

Thanks for the comments…
To answer the questions:

What you see in the picture weighed in at 78 lbs.
It seems pretty stable so far and we still have some weight to add low down…

Now its time to get the sensors and electronics online

Rob

It can’t tip over. Notice the tether at the pivot point of the arm
Looks real good . When the arm is up, with tetra, does the final stage rotate to place the tetra on goal?

How much does the robot weigh as configured in this picture?

What kind of wheels are you using?

And what is your robot’s speed?

sweeeeeeet!! nice arm! i like the low profile. whats ur ground clearance?

VERY low ground clearness and gj we lifted a tetra last night… it was GoOd :stuck_out_tongue:

probably lest an .5 inch I’m guessing?

WOW ROB!! you + the robot = 78 pounds…i didnt think you where that light…

nah just kidding man, your bot will be one of the bot’s to beat this year

COLSON POWER BABY!

Wow lots of questions…

here are the answers rapid fire style:

That isn’t a tether at the arm pivot, someone just thought that getting the globe motor wire out of the way of the sprockets might be a good idea…

The final stage does rotate to place the tetra on a goal.

It weighs about 80 pounds without electronics or armor.

The wheels are Colson Hi Tech Performas.

It goes 7 ft/sec.

The chassis has approximately .25 inches of ground clearance.

Greg, didn’t you know…the vacuum in my head offsets my weight

Can your arm completly rotate from one side to the other, that would be a really handy feature. How are you driving the arm, it looks like FP motors and something else.

Nice. Just remember to keep the tetra as low as possible for most of the match, even with a lot of weight at the bottom(only 79lb.s? Wow!) that still can lift your CG significantly and make you vulnerable to tipping, not likely from the tetra, but other robots(accidental or not).
One question, can you lift 2 at once? 3?\

Oh yeah, I wish 116 had a shop area that massive…

All I can say is…nice…

Our team was think two window motor for the fist join (on the arm/bace)
