Several will attest that, although inner-tube skirts were all the rage in the 2007 season, I sported the original “princess” skirt and started the trend.
And yes, that tube is pink. Thankfully they were later changed to red.
Thankfully, we did keep a few pink ones around for emergency wardrobe repairs should they ever be needed.
The best part of the story is that Amanda demonstrated her fine fashion sense somewhat unwillingly when Brigid threw her through the door and into the middle of a GDC meeting that was going on at the time. Woodie’s reaction was the best.
What?! The tubes were originally pink?! Why ever would you change it?!
Then again, I might be a liiiiiiittle biased.
I was the bold one on our team to wear a pink inner tube skirt on the playing field all the way through nationals - ahhh, the things I do for FIRST. . .
I can see the GDC reaction right now: Dave goes bananas, Dean falls off his Segway, and Woodie’s ponytail comes undone.
Yeah, but I actually like being able to do something at least once a week. First is amazing and all, but I need to remember that I have a life outside of the madness at least every now and than.
Come on, Kathie - You know how much I hate FIRST. I have to have at least one day to de-frazzle myself before I can get back into the swing of things for six more days!
I want to get a dog soon, to help me de-stress. ‘Come on, pooch, we’re going for a run.’ Then maybe we’ll push the seven day mark.
