Very nice dumper it looks like. Few questions.
How do the balls move up into the hopper? and how does the dumping mechanism work?
Overall very good looking dumper design.
Looks like a very clean and elegant approach to this year’s challenge. I like the simplicity of the design, no complicated parts to break. There is something to be said about simplicity, I have seen many a team try to over reach their bounds and end up building a pretty crappy machine. I have seen some very simple machines perform stunningly. I have a feeling this will be one of those machines, not much to go wrong. Get it built and get practicing with it.
Best of luck, I really want to see some pictures of this robot unloading. I hope it is as effective as I think it will be.
one of my favorite designs this year, simple, effective, and well constructed (from the looks of it). it only requires a simple belt system and a door to take advantage of the split second you have to hit another team’s trailer, good work!
i have a feeling these style bots are going to be fewer and farther between than i’d like, but they will kick some serious bot with proper driver training.
Yea we haven’t totally finished the CAD yet, and probably aren’t using all the materials we depicted.
We’re using some series 20 extruded to make the chassis for the most part.
The conveyor mechanism works by using urethane tubing to carry the ball up. The conveyor would be on the front and back of that rectangular piece that leads up to the hopper.
Once in the hopper we plan to spin the ball into people’s trailers.
1 week to finish this up, wish us luck!
