At the regionals, were the pit announcers particularly funny/annoying/strange?
At BAE, the pit announcer slipped up once and called for flight seventy-something instead of match seventy-something.
At UTC, the announcer kept doing all sorts of comedy routines and impressions.
It varies between regionals. Commander Chisem(spelling off) was a great speaker and a great announcer at the Annapolis regional. He was polite and really got the crowd going. He dressed up and did a wonderfull job to bring team spirit up, even if you were losing. So he was great and hope he returns.
The pit announcer at LI is my girlfriend… so I better not say anything too bad about her ability… all I’m saying is don’t ask her to say “Massachusetts” hehe!!
I’m the pit announcer at Long Island. Come say hi to me if you’ll be there the next two days! I would love to be funny and just go nuts with it, but I’m not exactly allowed to. I was originally told to just announce the matches and thats it. I actually had to go and find someone to give me permission to make announcements like “does any team have any extra wrenches that team … can borrow?” and such. The other lady didn’t think I should be allowed to.
edit I was nervous! you wouldn’t be able to pronounce Massachusetts either under those conditions! It was my first announcement…
“Theres a white car with a liscence plate from masschu… machus… massass… There’s a white car in front of the building that needs to be moved.”
The Pittsburgh Announcer in the Pits slipped a few times and called Team 78, and then would list 4 teams…I think she ment match 78
