Pixy Cam With SPI? (SOR - Save our Robot)

I am the lead programmer with Team 5842, using my friend’s account. I was wondering if anyone managed to get a Pixy cam working on the SPI port on the Rio, as our team has been having problems using I2C, a problem I know lots of teams have had. Right now, I have not been able to get any communication between the Rio and Pixy, and it appears to be wired correctly. We also have functioning vision code, we just want to switch the port we are using. For reference, this is the porting guide for Pixy
The wiring instructions in the guide were followed and any code we may need can probably be adapted from that page, but we cannot figure out why we have no data being sent or received.
Any help getting communication through the SPI port would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
