However, without a planetary gearbox we don’t have enough torque to drive the 3 rollers. (We are using a single Neo V1.1)
If any local FiM teams happen to have an extra 4:1 Sport Gearbox or a 3:1 max planetary, we are interested in purchasing. Otherwise, we will get the 4:1 Sport Gearbox shipped from AndyMark ASAP.
I assume it’s been considered, but could a larger intake pulley and/or smaller motor pinion get you the reduction needed? Or a stage of printed gears if feeling adventurous.
We have a 4:1 Sport Gearbox for the Neo 550. Even though the 550 has 1nm torque vs 1.5nm from the big Neo, we are better off using the 550 because we can get 4nm of torque with the planetary gearbox.
I had not previously tried printing pulley’s with a reduction. They were all 1:1. Because of your suggestion, I printed new pulley’s with a 2:1 reduction.
This means the rollers have 8nm of torque in total.
