Now that it is relatively late and people already have locked down designs does anyone want to share how they are going to get onto the platform. Please exclude BIG WHEELS. that is a pretty obvious design.
We’re going to fly up there.
Metaphorically speaking.
Who needs to get on the platform?
8 BIG WHEELS
edit: or Magic…we haven’t made the design decision, refer to Horribly behind thread. j/k.
one word----MOMENTUM
biped?
with wheels…
Finally, there’s someone who isn’t making bad assumptions about what’s necessary for, potentially, attaching your robot to the horizontal bar.
Steps aren’t the obstacle, people, they’re the distraction.
You know, he’s not the ONLY one who’s not planning on using the steps…
Wait until you see what we’ve got in store.
yes, attaching to the bar does not require being on the platform. however, having a robot that is capable of going up the 6" greatly increases your mobility - it is now a great deal more difficult for an opponent to block your movement. if they try to stop you in the side corridors (which will be very important bottlenecks), you can just go around them.
that is my theory. Our robot should be able to climb with ease
We’re going to use small wheels. 6" wheels. 8 of them. (Well, technically, not all 8 at once :D). I’ll say more in a couple of weeks.
We have two wheels mounted up above the drive base, so that when we run up the 6 inch gap we just hop on up.
Yeah, us too!
We are most likely using a piston (or pair thereof) to lift our front wheels off the ground and try and climb up the side of the lower platform.
Pneumatics. One piston on each wheel. I guess we really don’t have a [visible] front or back to our robot this year. Fun.
