Please help me with the size of the rotating light!!!

I am on a rookie team, and we are well on our way to designing our robot, and we still have alot of questions about some of the parts we have NOT received!

The biggest question has to be about the rotating light since we are REQUIRED to have it on the robot.

It is also important since the rules about it being placed upright and it must be seen from 4 points 90 degrees apart…our robot just doesn;t have many spots for it that fits all the criteria…especially if it turns out to be large.

All we need is a drawing of the light…even a picture against a ruler is better than nothing.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
-Quentin

Thanks to Mr. Sparks you can get a cad drawing of it at the First Cad Library its in the electrical section.

Excellent…is it the drawing called:

http://www.firstcadlibrary.com/drawings/autocad.revolvinglight.dwg ?

I ask because this is under ARCHIVED drawings, and the triangle with a ! in it indicates that it is an OPSOLETE part.

The electrical section of the site seems to be broken and I see no drawings there.

Is this the drawing you were pointing me to?

Thanks,

The light in the archive is from 2000 (and earlier?). It’s larger and heavier than the new model they introduced last year (and the one I presume we’ll be using again this year). The electrical section of that site worked fine for me, so I suggest trying again. Anyway, you express a legitimate concern. Although not a rookie, we also lack a light to experiment with. Our robot from last year (and hence our light) belong to another school and we have not been able to obtain them this year. If I were to estimate dimensions from memory, I’d say the light is ~ 6 to 8 inches tall and ~ 5 to 6 inches in diameter. I hope you can get more accurate measurements from somewhere, but in the mean time, good luck.

It actually has a “new” icon below it so I assume its for this year.

One thing you can be sure of is that its as accurate as they come, Mr Sparks is the king.

I thank you and everyone who posted here to help us VERY much! You don’t know how stressed I was getting not knowing if we could fit this fantom light.

Although I am still not sure, at least we can probably make provistions for it before our design hardens like cement! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks again,
