Please Help

Hey,
My project is rover that remote control (minimum distance 500m) that used to relay a real time video and sound and sensor reading to the operator, then the operator send to it an instruction, depend on the sensor reading, these instruction used to move the rover or to stop it,… etc.

I need a little information about the remote control robot from long distance (minimum distance 500m), and information about the transceiver used to achieved this requirement, and please if any body know how can I interface the transceiver with the robot (I already know that the transceiver on operator side have 3 I/O, one for video and other for audio, and the last one is the serial port plugged to pc), but what I don’t know what happen in rover side what is interface, and please if any body know where can i find a cheapest transceiver on net that have the above features,

Thanks In Advanced For Whatever Help

This website is intended for teams involved in the FIRST Robotics Competition. I’m guessing you’re probably not on a FIRST team, but if you can give us more information about what you are trying to do, there are plenty of knowledgable people here to help you. :]

John, In reality you do not need a transceiver for the audio and video. You can get by with a modulator and antenna on the robot since it is a one way link. (We are talking you school project? First robots cannot transmit without permission.) In a pinch you can remove one from an old VCR and just wire audio and video to the connections used in the VCR. It will transmit on the standard channels used in your country. As to a two way control link, there are lots of products that are available as kit form from elctronics catalogs. Try looking at mcminone.com or Mouser. A kit maker here in the US that has some interesting stuff is Ramsey electronics but I don’t know if they sell outside the US.

Hy,
If I’m not need a transceiver, what I’m needing, I said before, it has to transmitter the audio and video to distance more than 1 km, please if you know a something whatever what its tell me,
(If you don’t know I’m just beginner in robotics so I don’t know every thing you may writing it, so please if you can explain what I’m doing with VCR and what is the modulation),

If any body read any tutorial about Remote control rover that transmitter audio and video and instruction just give the URL and I will try to understand it, I just need the method or technique or the way or the H/W that allow me to transmitter the previous things, I’m sorry if I’m don’t understand what you may said before, but please be patient with me, and hope any body help me for what I want…

John,
Ramsey Electronics makes kits http://www.ramseyelectronics.com/ (they provide the parts and you provide the labor.) that will transmit to normal TV about 1/4 mile. You can increase that range with high gain receive antenna pointed at the transmitter. You need to do a little research on the frequency you can transmit on and whether you need a license. I am not familiar with the radio laws in Egypt but a local ham radio club could help you with any problems you might have. Try to contact one of the club members at http://www.qsl.net/egyptham/qsl.htm Please tell them Hi from WB9UVJ. You can contact them at egyptham@idsc.net.eg. Let me know what you find.
