I feel like these little motors/gearboxes should have a use, but I am not sure what that it. We had thought about using it to move a wrist. What are some other ways it could be used?
Here is the one place I’d tried using, this is around the speed it is on a lead screw hood.
We used it for spinning the pizza wheel in 2020 and to drive a rack and pinion for an adjustable hood shooter.
native application is for linear actuator so that can be a use. I Shared a linear actuator design in another thread. Another is to drive a rack and pinion type mechanism for deploying a simple lower force/torque mechanism. Very light weight motor but as mentioned lower on the power side of things (~50W).
In first choice there is a mount offered this year. Can easily be 3D printed and can be customized to add additional mounting modules (see this for reference)…still working on and open to other ideas for specific mounting applications.
Rack and pinion style
So am I over estimating the ability of the motor to think it could rotate a gripper like a wrist?
I don’t think so with these game elements but I don’t know what kind of wrist you have in mind. It’s has pretty good torque output with a double stage planetary but the speed might be a tad fast. could also add some additional gear reduction. If you have a motor just do a quick test. If not I can post a video to give a visual of what kind of speed you’re dealing with.
We have a motor and it does seem fast. We may play around with it some.
