Could someone post the rule numbers for all the pneumatic rules. Our team is looking at using a Bernoulli principle based mechanism that blows air instead of creating a vacuum in order to lift objects. I’ve checked I just want to make sure we don’t miss anything so that we don’t get a major mechanism taken off the bot because of a rule we missed.
Edit: Does R65: F include such a device since it does not create a vacuum, but operates in a similar fashion?
<R01B>, <R40>, <R42>, <R46>, <R60>, <R65> through <R74>, and <R90> all have at least something to do with Pneumatics, but <R65> through <R74> is the main Pneumatics section.
For your second question, it may depend on exactly how it works. It says “a device that creates a vacuum is not considered to be a
pneumatic device,” so if it doesn’t create a vacuum, <R66F> does not apply to it. That’s my interpretation, anyway.
R66
F. For the purposes of the FRC, a device that creates a vacuum is not considered to be a pneumatic device and are not subject to the pneumatic rules (although they must still satisfy all other appropriate rules). These include, but are not limited to, venturi-type vacuum generators and off-the-shelf vacuum devices (as long as they are powered by provided or permitted motors).
The use of compressed air still requires compliance with the rest of the pneumatic section of the rule book section 4.3.11.
