How Many Snow Days Has Your Team Had?

Winter here (well in Ontario at least not sure about the rest of the world) has not been very friendly to our team this year.

I think we’ve had somewhere between 12-20 days this season (school closed for 24) where we had to keep the shop closed due to the storms (although I’m bad at keeping track so could be wrong with that figure haha).

How many days have other teams missed this build season because of the weather?

Let’s count other bad weather events as snow days too :slight_smile:

In western washington we had a bit of snow 2 weeks ago and lost 2 days.

We lost 2 weeks to snow last year in central Iowa, but had great weather for our regionals in Duluth and Iowa. This year we have actually gained time due to the one time it has snowed* so, it seems, we are doomed for travel to the Central MO and Iowa Regionals.

*Last Wednesday school canceled preemptively the night before so students were able to work later and Wednesdays are one of our days off.

I doubt I will answer this question similarly in the near future. This was my first time losing build season time to snow in south LA!

We reduced our schedule to Wednesday evenings and Saturdays. We have had two ‘big storms’ and they both fell on meeting days only…

We also had a cold day shut us out as well, as the school was worried about pipes bursting. We met in an alternate location that day, just lost access to our usual lab

Here is Southwest MI the snow days have been pretty sparse, but conveniently hit on the few days a week we meet.

So far we have met over a dozen extra meetings to make up for it.

Despite all the snow we get each year I cant even remember the last time our school district had a snowday😮‍💨 We did have to cancel 1 meeting this season though due to extremely icy roads

Not necessarily snow days, but due to weather and school holidays we have lost around 4 meetings.

Our district (notoriously uncharitable in terms of snow days) has gone weak in recent years. As a result, being stuck with Week 4 and 5 looks increasingly better every day.

Fwiw our team only meets 3x a week, so snow days and meetings coinciding are going to be more rare than a team that meets 6x a week. Also makes our days lost more impactful (at least as a % of meeting dates).

The winter storm last Thursday coupled with a PA day on Friday and Family Day (holiday) on Monday gave us a 5 day weekend in the middle of February.

Our team doesn’t meet outside of school to begin with so while the extra long break was appreciated (:skier:), from a meeting standpoint its a bit disappointing to miss 3 nights late season, especially after we’ve already lost 2 weeks due to our school’s new exam schedule.

Is this days we got off because of snow or days where there actually was snow? Because we got about 6 days gone but only about 2 of them actually had snow.
