Hello all, Not sure if I’m posting in the right category. I’m trying to make a conveyer belt using Polyurethane Round Belt to move balls so they can pass to the shooter. The problem I’m having is the ball is not moving just keep on turning on the belts. Shall I open more the width of the rollers that the belts are or the opposite? and does the motor needs good speed ? I try to post a video of it Thanks in advance
You need something for the ball to push against on the other side. That can be another set of belts or it can be something flat that it rolls along.
Do you have any compression on the balls in the conveyor? Compression is required to force power to be transferred from the belt to moving the balls.
I m trying to post a video but I can’t
Rapid React balls worked well with belting on one side. Infinite Recharge balls (soft foam) worked better with belts on both sides. The outer covers did not slide against each other and would jam an intake.
With all configurations it is about speed and compression. You can shorten the belts to make them tighter, or shorten the distance between rollers to decrease the deflection for a given tension.
If you are using belts on one side and they are spinning put skate board grip tape on the opposing surface.
We used orange 1/4" poly belt this year with 1" of squish. It worked great. Some videos for you:
If I make one side slanting will it helps ?
The fact that it rolls back when the belt stops is indicative that the ball is trying to go “uphill”.
Gravity is trying to roll the ball “downhill” and the belt is trying to force it “uphill”. The effect is that the ball is rotating about its axis instead of translating. Either you need something on the topside (plate, 2nd set of rollers, etc) or you need to angle the belt path down so that it works with gravity.
I will try to make zip ties in the middle of the conveyer shaft as well and see if will helps to push the ball . Thanks for the help. Regarding the ball intake ,I made 3 rollers using rubber tubing but sometimes the ball stuck in the middle.
