Pool Noodles

Flying robots confirmed. :deadhorse:

The Bambert559 agrees!!!

Notice how they said:

** "As an example, you won’t be allowed to use a petal-shaped hollow noodle in the top portion of your bumper and a round solid pool noodle in the bottom of your bumper.

A petal-shaped cross section looks like this:"**

So I was thinking, “why would they use a flower shape as an example of what not to do with the bumpers”

I think the picture of the flower petal has to be a hint towards the 2018 game. :ahh:

That post was from 2016, not from 2017.

CIMs running under water. Bouyancy not required. How many hints do you want?

There is both a 2016 post about the 2017 season and a recent 2017 post about the upcoming 2018 season. There is very similar wording in both, and the same “petal” picture in both, so it’s quite easy to get confused about which post people are talking about.

But yes, it’s clearly a game hint. (Only in the sense that they’re giving you guidelines for a small portion of the upcoming robot rules.)

Oh oops, didn’t see that :stuck_out_tongue:

IIRC it’s because people figured out that by running harder noodles on the bottom and softer ones on the top, one would get an advantage in a pushing match to the point of possible lifting and/or flipping an opposing robot (especially one with a high CG). There has been a ban on wedges (for defense) for many years, and this was effectively an extension of that.
