A wonderful article in many ways. It manages very nicely to convey the spirit, the action, and the focus of the event. There’s the all-too-common assumption that FIRST equals FRC, but that’s not really a big deal. However…
Huh?
I spotted the issue too, Al. I suspect that they’re mistaking “motor” for “pneumatic cylinder”, or that the wire in question came loose due to a steep bend putting added stress on the connector and there was a communication error to the reporter.
Definitely a nice article though. Better than most I’ve seen.
Very nice, although I would really like to see the old term of Nationals for the championship be phased out. You have a lot of the old timers who were around when it was just a National Championship, but now it is an International Championship. I think we need to emphasize that a little more, especially to those who we are introducing to FIRST for the first time.
One of the better articles you will see about a FIRST competition.
I liked the fact they didn’t skimp out on a lot of the details that make a FIRST event, a FIRST event (ie: fixing a robot during a timeout, the chairmans award, etc.)
Great article, could have had a little more to it, but what it had was good.
Defiantly one of the more in depth articles i’ve seen on FIRST. It seems PopSci is getting better with their coverage. Maybe one day we’ll see an article like this in one of their issues.
Great article,
Really captures the event as it was going along. Very different from anything I have read about a FIRST event before. Hopefully, he really did not think we were reluctant to talk to him, just a bit busy.
