FRC 6800 Valor (and its’ offiliated FTC teams) is looking for a new robotics coordinator / director for Vandegrift High School out of Austin, TX. Disclaimer: I am the current Head Coach of Valor 6800, and plan to continue to operate as the coach. This position is a teaching position at the school and oversees all robotics programs at Vandegrift High School including 6800.
After 14 successful years at the helm of the Vandegrift ViperBots, our lead advisor (Rad Allen) is stepping down. Rad has been an incredible leader at ViperBots, and its’ time for him to enjoy time outside of the robotics world and with his family! He will be finishing both the FTC season and FRC season with Viperbots, and then help for a transition period to onboard a new Robotics Coordinator.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to take charge of the ViperBots robotics program. The program boasts a cutting-edge facility, fostering innovation and excellence, and is home to 10 FTC teams along with FRC 6800 Valor. The position would be to oversee all 11 teams and provide oversight into day-to-day operations of the facility and its’ variety of teams.

Responsibilities
As the Lead Advisor, you will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic direction and leadership to the robotics program.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility and teams.
- Mentoring and inspiring students to foster their passion for robotics, FIRST, and STEM.
- Collaborating with the school, sponsors, and the community to enhance the program’s reach and impact.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in FIRST Robotics, a deep understanding of both FRC and FTC.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a diverse group of students.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- A passion for STEM education and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Compensation
- Teacher Salary (Leander ISD Salary Schedule)
- Extra Robotics Conference Period
- $3500 Lead Advisor Stipend
- $2000-$5000 Coach Stipend
- ~$2300 for 7 extra “days” at the salary scale mid-range
