This thread is to see what type of interest there is for a 2 day event to be held in Central Florida late June 2005.
The event will either be held at Walt Disney Wide World of Sports or University High School, and will be a two day event.
Both of the locations are near a lot of hotels and other fun things to do, but we hope to get the location at Disney for obvious reasons.
We would just like to know how may teams would be willing to travel down to Florida for a fun filled two day event such as IRI, (but not conflicting with IRI dates).
In either case, this would be set up like a mini-regional; there will be professional lighting, sound and lots of other “cool” stuff.
I think it would be cool if there would be one at Walt Disney world. But from what I heard when there were Nats there they basically had it in a parking lot. So if it could actually be in a building that would be awesome. Then the only thing I have to worry about is to get Baker to let us go. Sounds fun though!
Sounds exciting! Expecially for those teams unable to goto Nats - this would provide to be a fun alternative. We’ve done Cal Games the past few years in which there’s the $300 charge ($200 for the comp, $100 WRRF membership) for it. What kind of cost would you project to pull this off?
Cal Games is done with minimal cost, because so many people volunteer (great job, Ken L) and it’s held at a participating HS (Woodside is great!).
It is quite and impressive facility and you can count 1369 in, but you already probably knew that…I might even be able to talk heatwave into it…ya never know =P
Also I wouldn’t have to travel as far which is always a plus.
I am positive that 108 would be there. I have played in Roller Hockey Tournaments in that arena, and I always thought that would be an awesome place to hold an event. You can count on me to be there to help out also.
Great idea Mr. Pell… i would love to see having 35+ teams competing for this event. 2 days… we will have a lot of things to do… why not having a social at a bowling place if possible? if not we sure can pick out some restaurant. i cant speak for my team… but count me in… thanks.
It is very early in the planning stages; Disney is not a done deal; considering everything goes according to plan, the registration fee would be around $100 - $150 per team.
