Possible Penalties

What are all of the possible penalties?

We’re trying grade our drivers test and having a full list would make the process a lot faster.

Here are the rules that will give you a penalty/card for violation:

<S02>, red card
<S04>, penalty/yellow

<G16>, <S04> invoked

<G37>, penalty
<G38>, penalty

I leave you to read the listed rules to find out just what the actions are that will trigger a penalty.

Thanks, this will make things much easier :D.

I’m sure the way Eric found these was to search the manual pdf’s for the partial word “penalt” (that way, you get both singular and plural). Don’t forget to use the latest versions of the files, because there have been 2 or 3 added since kickoff.

Actually, I didn’t. I scanned through, looking for PENALTY and any hints of “disable” and “disqualified”. In retrospect, I should have used the search, but didn’t.

ok… so what degree of contact is considered illegal?

Obviously, robots bump into robots. You cant help that. But can a robot initiate contact with another robot, even if minor?

Of course a robot can initiate contact with an opponent. You are allowed to pin for up to 5 seconds (<G39>); how would you do that without contact?

Look at <G36>, <G37> and <G38> regarding allowable and disallowed robot contact.

When considering penalties, we feel it is important to consider the red and yellow flag situations that arise AND the carry-forward status that results. Namely, if you are flagged in Q-1 (red or yellow) then you’ll start out yellow flagged in Q-2. (general case: flag in Q-n means yellow flag in Q-n+1 where n<6) Unlike yellow cards in soccer play, once carded at FRC tournament your team remains under scrutiny for the rest of the qualification round.
Echoing a famous “cop” show line: Be careful out there!

That is why I believe in the 1st few weeks, we will see a lot of 0-0 matches. Penalties will play a hugh roll this year, even more so than 2008. :ahh:

Figure I may as well compile a list for this year…
Just remember, I will only give the rule number and what the penalty is. You get to read the rule to find out what the penalty is for.
