Possibly a Realistic Game Hint?

I’ve been looking through scholarships for Senior year, and I came across this one in the list of FIRST scholarships:

http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/About_Us/Scholarships/2014_Assets/2014_FIRST_Gates_Scholarship_Desc.pdf

One of the requirements for eligibility is “Provide evidence that your 2014 FRC team used a belt on the competition robot”.

Am I missing something, or does this seem unusual for them to be sure you would even have a chance of using a belt on your robot? Why have this as a requirement if using a belt would do nothing towards whatever the 2014 competition is?

Any thoughts or comments?

I think it would be obvious that GATES, the FIRST sponsor of belts and pulleys, would like to see their belts and pulleys used on the robot of an individual they give a scholarship to.

The company Gates is a company that makes belts and pulleys so it is completely normal for them to have this requirement. They also had this requirement last year and am pretty sure it has nothing to do with the 2014 game.

That’s been on Gates grant for at least 3 years.

Ok, I didn’t realize that. I wasn’t sure if this has been there or if it was new. Thanks for clearing that up!

I remember at least one scholarship which required your robot to use pneumatics.

well its obviously talking about the belts that will strap your scuba gear on to retrieve broken robots after the round of the 2014 water game has ended. water game confirmed.

There’s that number 3 again…

Why do you think I chose 3???
