Posting a robot image on ChiefDelphi and linking to it from TheBlueAlliance

I would like to add a new picture of the our robot to thebluealliance.com and use CD to host the picture.

I went to the 8069 page on TBA and clicked the Add Media! button which takes me to the add media page for 8069. Here it says

Chief Delphi images, like https://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/36646

I posted our robot picture at the following link but this link is not in the format that TBA refers to and TBA does not accept it.

How can I link to our robot image hosted on CD from TBA?

Maybe try this link?

I believe that feature only works with the old CD-Media, which hasn’t been up since the move to Discourse. I think Imgur uploads are your only option at this point, unfortunately.

And Instagram (?)

TBA does not except that link.

I could, I was just hoping to use CD since I already use it regularly.

You can also upload photos to CD directly from the Android app iirc.

At this point, Imgur and Instagram images are the only ones that work on Blue Alliance. Many have tried to get the new format URLs from CD to work, but everyone gets the error message you got. I was a little surprised that Blue Alliance hasn’t changed this to accept images from the new version of CD, but that’s where we are. I set up an Imgur page for our team just for the purpose of uploading images to Blue Alliance.

I’ve never used CD to get pictures onto TBA. I just upload straight from the app. If you have the TBA media key (found on the mentor’s dashboard in the coupons section), you can approve/deny the media queue.

That’s awesome nuclearnerd and Aaron! To bad a direct upload is not an option on the desktop website but this will work for now.

BTW where do I enter the TBA media key?

Direct upload to TBA is just installing the app from the store to a mobile device. This is an android view, and after tapping the yellow camera, the pop up appears.

The media key can be entered after you make a myTBA account, accessed here. After signing in, you’ll see a page like this.

Direct upload using a non-mobile device is something I’ve never done, so I do not have the knowledge of that but it should be fairly easy.
Without the media key, you’ll just have to wait for a TBA staff to approve the content.

Pictures which were submitted to The Blue Alliance from CD-Media on the old CD site are now pulling from archived URLs. For example, the image linked in the example URL on the submission page (254, 2011) points to https://web.archive.org/web/0im_/https://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/img/cc8/cc8f401da664053c9ac6cc8369fc50b7_m.jpg.

Very aware that TBA no longer supports CD media, it’s even in the code.

But there should definitely be some cleaning up on the page so that it doesn’t suggest CD media or create some weird 404s and 500s.

The issue is a bit dated, but it is being tracked here. I added some details to it for further tracking.

Finally, going forward you can place a question like this in the TBA category rather than the CD forum support category to get the fastest response from folks like @Eugene_Fang and others that primarily hang out over there.
