Just had the opportunity to try this at home on my Vive - Super awesome! I’m not sure about Unreal, but I know multiplayer implementation on Unity is relatively simple, and even if it is twice as hard in unreal, it still might be something you guys might want to pursue, especially because multiplayer support might allow us to run some fake “human” matches, which will give teams a good idea on how the game is going to play in the real world with robots. Nonetheless, still amazing!
Thanks Noah!
We are going to post the entire project tomorrow for folks to do with as they please.
We are huge believers in open source projects as everything we do (Including the FRC Game Animation, BTW) are done using open source programs.
We are looking forward to seeing what everyone does with it!
Stay tuned …

p.s. Now that we have the work flow defined we should be able to do this each year that we do the game animation, so be sure to let us know what we can do to make it better.
Folks,
I’ve just gotten into the VR playing field…so to speak. Learning to fully operate my Oculus Rift (don’t want to get into the which is best argument…since I got mine as new package from a friend for $320). And am TRYING to BEGIN to learn Unity…yeah that’s going well.
This simulation is GREAT…the robotics students I’ve shown it to are fascinated…stunned…and begin to ask the magic questions…"How do WE do this…how do we get robot on field, how do we get human players …yada, yada… As a STEM educator…who is always trying to teach programming, CAD and engineering…those are magic words…
Please keep up the good work…
And where possible…for us noobs…please share any info you can to help others get involved in this effort.

Apologies, I have been slack … we got permission from AutomationDirect to post the entire project on GitHub, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
I will try to do it tomorrow.
FYI - this VR simulation was done in UNREAL using BLUEPRINT - a node base programming language like Labview. It’s the other UNITY.
If you are looking for an AWESOME beginner course in programming UNREAL in C++ (with a little Blueprint too) check out Ben Tristem’s course on UDEMY. That’s how the author of this VR Simulation got started. I have also used it and can highly recommend it.
Ben Tristem’s course: “Unreal Engine Developer Course”](https://www.udemy.com/unrealcourse/learn/v4/overview) $9.99.
OK guys.
Miracles do happen … we finally got the source files for the simulation posted.
GitHub barfed at us trying to upload 2G of files so we simply posted it at AutomationDirect.com for you to download.
This includes everything you need to build it in UE4.18.
Please let us know if you end up doing anything fun with it.
Be sure to stop by our booth in the Robot Service center at Champs and say “Hi!”
