Powering the IR Board

Hey, it’s my first time posting on Chief Delphi…!!!

In the rules it says that all custom circuits have to be protected by a 20A breaker… so is the IR board considered to be a custom circuit or no?

I was thinking of just powering the IR board using the fuse block, and connecting pin 1 and 3 to a PWM going to the digital input 18 and connecting pin 2 and 4 to the digital input 17… I’ve been reading on the forums that you are able to power the IR board thru the Robot Controller… and then the signals from pins 5,6,7,8 will be sent to some digital input signal on the Robot controller…

so basically i’m just asking will this work?

just want to make sure, we already friend one RC board lol…

I wouldn’t wire it this way. Pin 1 and/or 2 are the positive power connection and should go to a 20 amp breaker. Pin 3 and/or 4 is the ground and should be returned to the common point on the circuit breaker panel. Pins 5,6,7,8 are then connected to the digital inputs you are using as defined in your software. Several threads have discussed that that powering from the RC does not fulfill the power reguirements for the board. Electrically, the IR board will be inspected under the electrical rules for a custom circuit as to wire size, insulation, breaker etc.
