Does anyone know where there are or will be good practice fields in Michigan that we can take our robot to and do some testing?
If you’re in Owosso the closest place is likely Kettering’s FIRST robotics center. I haven’t been there, but I’ve heard good things. You can contact Bob Nichols or Mark Taylor. Their info is on the right side of this page.
Thanks - I sent Bob a message
We’ll have a wood field up as well in Armada. The Byting Bulldogs have had a field up as well, but I don’t know their field status this year.
Yes, the Byting Bulldogs will also have one. We’d love to have any nearby teams come practice with us! I will post details when we get it finished(next week or so)
On that note, is it rude to ask for people to BYO fuel. We have some, but not nearly what will be available at an actual match.
I can’t imagine it would be.
Not rude at all - I would think expected as a visiting team.
thanks.
Bedford Express has wood field elements on our practice field if anyone this way is interested in coming down to practice here.
I would not think its rude at all… i would actually think its expected…
If Algonac come over, we will bring a box full!!!
Please post when field would be available.
The Bionic Blackhawks will likely be hosting a scrimmage out of our old high school. If anyone is interested, near Bloomfield Hills, let us know by contacting our coach.
We only built one airship, since we don’t have space. We will have the retrieval zone as far as possible, but it isn’t the right distance still.
Also, I know several other teams around here will do similar things. The most important being Kettering. Kettering will be set up for 3 weeks (0, 1, and 2). Once they get the field set up, it will be the best replication of a match in hundreds of miles.
The Byting Bulldog’s field is ready. Follow the link to sign up, it lists times and dates. We are asking teams to bring an old team tshirt as payment:)-we want to hang on the wall-can be any size
TORC is doing our 5th annual Week zero practice field in our aux gym at the school 2/18 and 2/19. This started as invite only back in the day, with a focus on rookie teams, and getting them moving, improving before bag day. We have opened it up in the years past with preference to the teams that have attended in the past. We have to limit to about 15 teams, but if there is more interest, we can put you on a wait list, as typically there will be teams that intend to make it, but have to cancel at the last minuets. That’s how robotics go. . .
Details and contacts in the attached flyer!

I’m sure you’d be welcome at Kettering if it’s close to you. It’s a great facility and there are great people there. If you sent a message to Mark, I’m sure he’ll be back to you asap. Mark and Bob are fantastic and very open and welcoming.
