Pre-rookies at offseason- Lack of a Control System

I haven’t seen the topic full discussed yet and we’ve been wondering how some of the events in our area, especially Brunswick Eruption which is well known for pre-rookies, plan on having these forming teams compete.

I don’t know of many teams other than the beta testers who may have more than 1 system.

Spare cRIO anyone?

I was trying to think and I don’t know of too many teams that have an extra cRio because a lot of teams just withheld them this year.

A possible idea would be to contact a local-ish team who’s not competing and borrow their control system.

I know that the Rah Cha Cha Ruckus will accept pre-rookies to play this year. All it takes is last years control system. The way we would be running it is, that team would have the responsibility of disabling and enabling.

Ah true true.

That is the way I’d do it. It’s easy and it works.

Yeah,

Maybe have a volunteer do the enabling/disabling to make it fair.

This. Just make sure the channels are straight if you’ve got several IFI systems floating around, have someone outside the team hitting the switches, and life should be good.

The beta program had us send our cRIO back. We though we busted this year’s cRIO right before an outreach event this year so we quickly ordered another one. Then we got the old one working, so now we have a back-up we plan on bringing to mini-regional in case someone’s else cRIO breaks.

Beta teams had to return their control systems. They apparently weren’t identical anyway.
