I have been recently trying to update our drivers station for this year. I have been following the instructions on usfirst.org. I got to the second page and it wants me to open a desktop icon titled, FRC driver station. No such icon is appearing for me. Any help?
What instructions are you following? The desktop icon was there with last year’s system. This year you find it in the Start menu.
I looked there… no luck…
Are you running Windows?
You can just search for driver station in the search box and it will appear. Otherwise our team was able to find it embedded in the update folder.
Unless its not named FRC driver station, it doesnt appear when I search for it, nor can I find it in the update folder…
It should be in:
C://Program Files/FRC Driver Station
Program Files may be Program Files (x86) depending on your computer.
It gets installed with the FRC Update.
Did you follow these directions: Installing the FRC 2015 Update Suite (All Languages)](http://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/4485/m/13503/l/144150-installing-the-frc-2015-update-suite-all-languages)
Nope… I followed directions from usfirst.org under frc…programming…driver station… so I will try those directions and see if that works… thanks!
You got to the ScreenSteps site okay, but it doesn’t look like you went through the Getting Started with the 2015 Control System section. The Installing the FRC 2015 Update Suite (All Languages) is where it steps you through putting the software in the right place.
Well I figured it out. It was just a National Instrument Update that hadn’t been done. But now, when I log in as driver, the dashboard doesn’t pop up like it has in the past. Its not a huge deal to us, but there is like two windows and the resolution is huge, and we can’t see them both at one time. Is there some setting we can change in order to see everything?
Are you using the floating or docked window mode? In docked, it should scale to the resolution.
Is this on a Classmate or another laptop?
Did you set the task bar to Auto Hide and make more room on the screen?
Do the two windows have frames?
Yeah, I auto-hid the task bar but it still doesn’t snap to the correct resolution.
If you don’t answer the questions we’re asking, we can’t do a good job of advising you further. To summarize what we still want to know:
Are you using the “floating” or “docked” window mode? If you don’t know what that means, just tell us whether or not the windows have title bars.
Is this a Classmate laptop? If you don’t know what that means, just tell us what brand of computer you are using.
It is a classmate laptop, when i open the frc driver station icon on the desktop, it splits it into two windows, both of which are floating, and extending past the screen so I cant see all of it. I can only dock one of the windows to the top, making it impossible to see the other window…
Look for this on the Driver Station and click it.
Are the Driver Station windows too wide for the screen? That’s a video driver issue on the E12 Classmate image. You need to be able to set the screen resolution to more than 800x600 in order for everything to fit.
I don’t want to post a link to something if it’s not going to help your problem. Let me know whether you’re using an E12 and whether the screen width is the issue, and if so I’ll point you to something which ought to help.
