Anyone else having problems opening up the inventor drive train and transmission parts? I have inventor 8 and i am getting this message when i try and open it
Database Schema is newer than this version of the software.
I cant see them taking the time to do all of this in 9 and then give all the teams 8.
IFI did use Inventor 9 for their model. Transmission_Assy.iam opened without any problem with 9. I attached a screenshot of what we’re missing with Inv 8. Looks like most of their parts are based on models imported from some other application, rather than designed in Inventor.
I suggest downloading the STEP or IGES files for these parts if you don’t want to wait to see if Autodesk will make Inv 8 versions available. Inventor hung when I tried to import the IGES files, but I could open the STEP assembly OK (takes a while to translate). You have to enable the STEP translation add-in to open them (Tools menu: Add-Ins…).
Whatever JVN or I say regarding the kit chassis or the transmission should be treated like it is coming from the source, because he and I were the source (or sources).
John took his chassis components designed in ThinkDesign 8.4 and brought them into Inventor 9.
I designed all the transmission parts in SolidWorks 2004 and converted them to STEP and sent them to John. He brought tem into Inventor 9.
The bottom line is that the STEP files are the best files to use.
