We here at WCBC have noticed a growing issue on Chief Delphi and in FIRST as a whole and feel like petitioning for a positive change.
RAISE THE REQUIRED AGE LIMIT TO POST ON THE BOARDS TO 23.
Why do we let 22 y/o’s and younger post on CD? Seems like we could have more educated, reasonable, and graciously professional posts if only real adults contributed. You’d never see a real engineering company or organization having its unofficial forum dominated by high school and college aged kids.
The younger crowd can put in time with read only mode until they have obviously, objectively matured enough to contribute.
For the health and safety of this community, we think swift response affirming this petition to be of utmost importance.
I would argue the opposite, why do we let people over, say, 30 post on here? They clearly lack the immaturity necessary to “wil payne” all over the boards.
I don’t see what’s wrong with asking kids to spend some time posting over on r/frc first? Put in the hours, get some cheap karma, and THEN join us over here on the real forum. As a reflection of the FIRST community, its important we keep this site gracious professional with only high quality posts.
Wait so you’re saying CD would be rid of Andrew Lawrence? We need to get a formal vote going right now to make this new rule take effect as soon as possible.
Okay I see where this is coming from but I have to say I heavily disagree, especially considering a lot of discourse on here is due to it being too mentor heavy. I don’t understand trying to discourage students, whom remember, FRC is primarily for, from reaching out and joining another aspect of the community. This is not a forum website just for “real” engineering companies. It’s for students, mentors, and yes organizations to come together. I have a very different perspective on the cd community, and I have to say it’s a very positive one. Even if this is a joke, please think about this seriously. “People under 23 clearly shouldn’t be allowed opinions and help on an organization for them. That would be crazy!”
