Provisions for suspended robots.

I have found that working out the dimensions for the lift mechanism it is easier to design for just the high lift than having it also come all the way down to a robot the has a bar for “suspended robots” below their bumpers. If every one could design their “suspended robot” bar to be above their bumpers, that would make everybody’s life easier in lift mechanism design.

What is the feelings of others regarding this?

Why would the “suspended robot” bar have to be above the bumpers?

When designing the arm to reach the seven foot of the upper bar you have to make provisions for that hook to come down to the lower area as well to reach to a posibble 22 inches off the ground. That makes it more diffucult. If you sit down and start working out ideas to do this you find many more easy options to go from the 7 fto down to 4 ft. A telliscoping arm, a folding arm with winch, scissor lift… remeber the bar is outside the bumper zone.
